ABOUT US
This is a dream in the making. Our team, in late 2021, managed to locate the last Lockheed Electra 10A in the United States. (We do NOT have a contract with the aircraft's owner and are an independent organization!) This aircraft is currently the only one not in a museum and we are on a mission to get it restored and made airworthy. We chose to make this our first project as a way to share our dream with the world.
We are working on an educational program that will be used in connection with the Electra. Our program will include the following:
-
Teach students/public about the Lockheed Electra and its place in history.
-
This includes its effect on air travel, the airline/aviation industry, and the 1930s (also known as "the golden age of aviation"
-
-
Discuss changes in aircraft/aviation over the last 90 years.
-
Amelia Earhart
-
Earhart's connection with the Electra
-
she used a highly modified 10E on her ill-fated world flight attempt)
-
-
Present photos so students can compare Earhart's Electra to that of a typical passenger configuration.
-
Explain what modifications took place to prepare Amelia's Electra for the grueling flight ahead.
-
How Earhart's fame/legacy has overshadowed the commercial history/success of the Lockheed Electra as an airliner.
-
Help spread Amelia's message
-
You don't have to live the life society expects you to live
-
Through hard work and determination, you can achieve your dreams
-
-
Visitors will be allowed to climb inside the Electra and even sit in the cockpit.
